Daniel J. McCarthy

Daniel’s legal concentration is appellate and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. He is highly skilled and experienced in mediation, arbitration, and facilitation.

Before joining Lippitt O’Keefe, Daniel served as a law clerk intern for the Honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He later served as a law clerk for the Honorable Marilyn J. Kelly, Chief Justice, Michigan Supreme Court, 1999 to 2000, and then in 2000 he served as a pre-hearing attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals.

In addition to his career as an experienced and trusted litigator, Daniel also served as an adjunct professor at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

In 2010, Daniel was appointed to serve through 2012 on the Michigan Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Instructions, and he was re-appointed to serve through 2015.

In 2013, Daniel was a featured speaker for the National Business Institute on Business Contracts A to Z on the topics of essential legal elements and breach of contract issues. He was likewise published for his article covering breach of contract issues.

Daniel earned his B.B.A. degree from Western Connecticut State University and his J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oakland County Bar Association, and he is also a member of Scribes, an organization dedicated to the improvement of legal writing and scholarship.
